Today I announce with a heavy heart that Oxford County Pride Committee has cancelled in person Pride events for June 2020, due to Covid-19. Please know our team is meeting weekly online and working hard to create changes necessary to explore options that will allow us to provide some Oxford Pride events virtually. We ask you be patient as we will announce virtual event opportunities asap.
To all our sponsors to date, we have tabled the paper copy of the Oxford Pride Guide however we will be continuing with an electronic copy to ensure your organization and business receive the advertising required by each partnership level. If you have concerns or questions please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for clarification.
Pride celebrations are an important way for the LGBTQ2+ communities to unite in solidarity to celebrate how far we have come and continue to educate others about the ongoing barriers we endure in our community. This pandemic will not stop our movement, and if any people can be resilient and adapt at this time it is the LGBTQ2+ Community. Pride committees around the world are working toward ensuring that the LGBTQ2+ community will be connected and supported throughout this pandemic situation. We are pleased to announce we will be participating in the “GLOBAL PRIDE 2020” June 27th event celebrating with Prides across Canada and around the world. Details will be provided once we have them.
This pandemic has affected all of us, and now more then ever we need to come together to care and support one another as a community. For those who may have sick family members or have lost a loved one, our hearts and prayers go out to you and your loved ones.
In closing, Oxford Pride Committee would like to thank all the amazing people in our communities who continue to work during this time to provide essential services, keeping our community safe and healthy. You’re our true hero’s and we are forever in your debt for your courage, strength and resiliency. Please maintain social distancing, stay home and healthy, this too we shall prevail!
